Japan’s 31% Reduction — and What It Actually Takes to Fix This

Japan reduced national food waste by 31%. The UK reduced household food waste per capita by more than a quarter between 2007 and 2018. Both used the same core mechanism: sustained national policy combined with public-private partnerships that brought government, retailers, food manufacturers, and hospitality businesses into binding commitments.
