New Delhi, November 10:
Delhi Blast Latest Update: A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening claimed at least eight lives and left 24 people injured. The blast, which occurred in a parked car, also set several nearby vehicles ablaze, triggering panic and a massive security response.

The incident took place near Gate Number 1 of the metro station. According to the Delhi Fire Department, the explosion happened around 6:52 PM, followed by a fire that spread to nearby vehicles. Seven fire tenders were immediately dispatched to control the flames, and by 7:29 PM, the fire was under control.
“Eight of them died before reaching the hospital,” said the LNJP Hospital’s medical superintendent to ANI.The injured have been admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital for treatment.

Police and Security Response
Following the explosion, the Delhi Police, Special Cell, and forensic teams reached the site. Investigations are being conducted jointly by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha told ANI:
“A slow-moving vehicle stopped at a red light when an explosion occurred. Nearby vehicles were damaged. Some people have died, and others are injured. All agencies are on-site and the situation is being monitored closely.”
Deputy Chief Fire Officer A.K. Malik confirmed that multiple fire units responded quickly:
“We received the call about a car blast near Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Seven units were sent, and the fire was contained by 7:29 PM.”
Eyewitness Accounts
Local residents described the explosion as one of the loudest they had ever heard.
“I never heard such a loud explosion in my life. It felt like the entire area was shaking,”said Rajdhar Pandey, a local resident.
Another eyewitness added,
“When we arrived, body parts were scattered on the road. Several cars were damaged. It was horrifying.”

Government Response
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation, while Home Minister Amit Shah briefed him on ongoing developments.Amit Shah also spoke with the Delhi Police Commissioner and dispatched teams from the NSG, NIA, and IB to assist in the investigation.
High Alert in Other States
In response to the Delhi blast, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have been placed on high alert.ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash confirmed that additional security measures have been ordered in sensitive districts, religious sites, and border areas.
“Patrolling and checks have been increased across all districts,” said Yash.
